Nursery
& Special Event Child Care
Religious
classes for adults are also scheduled throughout
the service year. Our New UU class is a one-day session that
allows new members and those interested in learning about Unitarian
Universalism get an overview of its historical roots, explore their
personal spiritual journeys and assess their religious values and
expectations. Other multi-session classes offered in recent years
included UUs and the Bible, Building Your Own Theology and Articulating
Your UU Faith.Most Sundays child
care will be offered for children 0-3
years old during regular services. Child care is also offered
during special events, such as our Annual Meeting, and during the
summer when there are no RE classes.
Adult RE:RE Special
Events
This year we will be holding several events outside of
the
fellowship to enable the families to get together for some
socialization and fun! Roller skating and bowling are just a couple of
the events planned.Intergenerational
Services
Children
learn best when they are active participants in the services.
Regularly scheduled intergenerational services permit parents and
children to interact as equals in their search for what is valuable to
their lives. |
RE Classes Classes are held for
preschool through middle school children Sundays beginning each
September and generally correspond to the academic year of our local
public school districts.
The GBAUUF Religious Education program strives to provide an environment that nurtures spiritual growth and opportunities for religious discovery through teaching and modeling our seven Unitarian Universalist Principles. We're very excited about Religious Education this year. We have adopted four new curricula and have added a new class for the 8th – 12th graders. We have 12 dedicated teachers this year as well as five willing substitute teachers. Pre-Kindergarten: Teachers - Michelle Ellis, Kristine Klasen, Claudia Moder A Discovering Year This class Nurtures children's spiritual and religious growth through connections to an ever-widening environment. Children discover and celebrate as they learn about themselves and others, families and churches, nature, and religious and cultural days. Kindergarten – Third Grade: Teachers - Beth Jensen, Beth Perry-Wattleworth, Christine Skinner Free to Believe Through a variety of activities related to many of the different intelligences, children will experience meditations, rituals and opportunities to explore the wonders of nature. The curriculum is centered on our seven Unitarian Universalist principles and seeks to increase children's sense of religious identity. The children will also focus on some of life's "big questions" such as: Is there a God? What are different images of God? Why do people and animals die? Where do people and animals go when they die? How did life begin? Fourth- Seventh Grade: Teachers - Jennifer Johnson, Amy Masias, Pete Masias The New You the Creator This activity-based program empowers participants to explore and use their creative talents. It includes spiritual elements and sessions on creating community and engages youth through a variety of formats and learning styles. Its basic message is expressed in its title: each participant is, can be, and should be one of the creative forces in the world. Activities include role-plays, continuums, drawing, photography, sculpting, making gods, goddesses, and more. Eighth- Twelfth Grade: Teachers - Trevor Jones, Linda Peacock-Landrum, Bruce Rose Living in UUville The goals of Living in UUville are to give youth an opportunity to explore the full meaning of principles of Unitarian Universalism in their lives within an environment that encourages individual initiative as well as teamwork in pursuit of multiple goals. The program activities encourage youth to think about their own religious beliefs that will promote their own spiritual growth. Students use creativity and imagination to create their own UU school, country and world! Registration: The registration form for our RE classes is now available online. Please click on the form link below, print out the form, complete it and bring to Sunday Services. Questions
